  1、主旨概括句(文章的主题思想);
  2、过渡性句子(承上启下,巧妙过度);
  3、注释性句子(注解和诠释);
  In Canada you can find dogs,cats,horses etc.In almost every family.These are their pets.1_________ Before they keep them at their houses,they take them to animal hospitals to give them needles so that they won’t carry disease(疾病).They have special animal food stores,though they can get animal food in almost every store.2._________ When you visit people’s homes,they would be very glad to show you their pets and they are very proud of them.You will also find almost every family has a bird feeder in their garden.All kinds of birds are welcomed to come and have a good meal.3._________ Nobody is allowed to kill any animals in Canada.4._________ If you killed an animal,you would be punished(处罚).If an animal happened to get run over by a car,people would be very sad about it.
  5._________ One of them might be:Their family tie is not as close as ours.When children grow up,they leave their parents and start their own career(生涯).Then the seniors(老人)will feel lonely.But pets can solve this problem.They can b第一文库网e good friends and never leave them alone.
  A.People usually use cages to keep them at home.
  B.They are free to come and go.
  C.People in Canada have many reasons to like animals.
  D.People love these pets and regard them as their good friends.
  E.Why don’t people kill animals ?
  F.Some people spend around two hundred Canadian dollars a month on animal food.
  G.They have a law against killing wild animals.
从“Before they keep them at their houses,they take them to animal hospitals to give them needles so that they won’t carry disease(疾病).” 根据 “They have special animal food stores,though they can get animal food in almost every store.” 而下句“When you visit people’s homes,they would be very glad to show you their pets and they are very proud of them.” 从“All kinds of birds are welcomed to come and have a good meal.” 细读“Nobody is allowed to kill any animals in Canada.4._________ If you killed an animal,you would be punished(处罚).If an animal happened to get run over by a car,people would be very sad about it.” 所以“4._________”处应该是选G。
  最后,读完“One of them might be:Their family tie is not as close as ours.When children grow up,they leave their parents and start their own career(生涯).Then the seniors(老人)will feel lonely.But pets can solve this problem.They can be good friends and never leave them alone.”

  An important question about eating out is who pays for the meal. If a friend of yours asks you to have lunch with him. You may say something like this, “I’m afraid it’ll have to be some place cheap, as I have very little money.” The other person may say, “OK, I’ll meet you at McDonald’s.” This means that two agree to go Dutch, that is, each person pays for himself. He may also say, “Oh, no. I want to take you to lunch at Johnson’s”, or “I want you to try the steak(牛排) there. It’s great.” This means the person wants to pay for both of you. If you feel friendly towards this person, you can go with him and you needn’t pay for the meal. You may just say, “Thank you. That would be very nice.” American customs about who pays for dates(约会) are much the same as in other parts of the world. In the old days, American women wanted men to pay for all the meals. But, today, a university girl or a woman in the business world will usually pay her own way during the day. If a man asks her to dinner or a dance outside the working hours, it means “come as my guest”. So as you can see, it is a polite thing to make the question clear at the very beginning.

  Mrs. Janes gave music lessons at a school. She had a good voice,enjoyed singing, except that some of her high tones sound like a gate that had forgotten to oil. Mrs. Janes knew her weakness well, and took every chance she could find to practise these high notes. As she lived in a small house, where she could not practise without disturbing the rest of the family, she usually went for long walks along the country roads whenever she had time and practised her high notes there. Whenever she heard a car or a person coming along the road, she stopped and waited until she could no longer be heard before she started practicing again, because she was a shy person. One afternoon, a fast, opened car came up behind her so silently and so fast that she didn’t hear it until it was only a few yards from her. She was singing some of her highest and most difficult tones at that time and as the car passed; she saw an anxious expression came over the driver’s face. He stopped his car suddenly, jumped out and began to examine all his tyres carefully. Mrs. Janes didn’t dare to tell him what the noise he had heard really was, so he got back into the car and drove off.

  A. She sang well, but she didn’t practise singing hard.
  B. She enjoyed singing, but she had a terrible voice.
  C. She was a good singer, but she could not sing the high tones well.
  D. She sang terribly, she was no singer at all.

  C. Because she lived in a small house far away.
  D. Because she was afraid to practise the high tones.
  3. Why did the driver stop his car suddenly and jump out of it?
  A. Because he supposed something must have gone wrong with his car.
  B. Because he was moved by the pretty voice of Mrs. Janes.
  C. Because he wondered what had happened to Mrs. Janes.
  D. Because he frightened by the terrible voice of Mrs. Janes.
  4. Where did the noise come from?
  A. From the small house. B. From Mrs. Janes’ voice.
