  手
  手,这个词听来极其普通,我们几乎随时随地都可以接触到。然而,你是否知道:手是人类——万物之灵的人类特有的一部分肢体,是其它任何生物所不能拥有的。手可分为手掌手指两部分,由手腕与臂相连,在关节允许范围内可以伸屈自如。通常我们把手腕以下部分称为手。具体来说,手掌由掌心、掌背、掌侧和掌根组成,手指则由指节、指肚、指甲和指尖组成,皮下布满神经末梢和毛细血管,以指尖处最为丰富。一般只有手背上长细毛。
  且不必说其它动物,就拿与人类最相似、同属灵长类的猿猴、猩猩来说吧,虽有人手的形状,但一般不能完全伸直五指,且表面覆盖了一层长毛,运用时也不如人手灵活。与其它动物相比,人手手指间的蹼明显退化,因此人手也更显美观。人与猿猴在握掌时也有很大不同:人的大拇指可扣在拳外侧,而猿猴的拇指却只能握在掌心……如此种种,不胜枚举。为什么存在如此的差异呢?从起源来看,人类在进化过程中是由四肢着地行走变为双腿直立的,手在这时便由上肢转化,从而实现了手与脚的分离。其间的漫长岁月,通过人类的劳动,形成了今天我们看到的手。这种与动物的差异是人类的劳动和进化造成的。
  正因为人手有着和其它动物截然不同的特点,因此也决定了它具有无可比拟的优点,从功能上看,人手能够制造各种工具和进行劳动生产,这一点是科学家们公认的人与动物的最大的本质区别。又如,人手能够胜任极其繁杂细致的工作,如雕刻、刺绣、绘画、演奏等。再如手指的灵巧表现在使用筷子进餐;手的触觉是极其灵敏的,它可以感觉到不同的手温;气功师们用手掌发放外气给人治病。总之,手的功能是难以尽述的,简直可以说无所不能了——当然这有些夸张,但也可以说明手的功能之多。
  手是这样灵巧,这样奇妙。难怪古往今来许多人都对它进行研究。某些高明的医生还可以从一个人的手和指甲来判断病情。道理并不深奥,从所周知,要是手心冰冷,指甲发青,那一定病得不轻,所以说手也能在一定程度表现出一个人的生理情况。
  科学家们还发现世界上每个人的指纹都不同,根据这一原理,公安局的工作可得力不少。
